Inspired by the running waves the flowing air and the quiet earth –
I create hand built ceramics in my studio on Shelter Island, NY.
A BA in Art History from Vassar College, Masters in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute, professional work in architectural lighting design, teaching experience at Pratt and Parsons School of Design – all these experiences along with a strong sense of place here at my island home, come together to inform and shape my work.
I work with a variety of clay bodies and firing processes, always experimenting, and enjoying the process. I fire my work in electric oxidation in my kiln here on Shelter Island and cone 10 gas reduction as a member of the Clay Arts Guild in Watermill, NY. I am fortunate to participate in an annual raku firing as well with the Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons.
I teach children’s classes, and family and adult workshops at the Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons. I have also been a visiting artist with local schools and community organizations including the Shelter Island Historical Society, Greenport Marine and Arts Camp, Shelter Island Library, and the Hayground School residency at the Watermill Center.
All pieces are hand crafted by the artist (me) and are one of a kind.
I update my instagram page frequently with new pieces and information on studio sales and opportunities to purchase my work.
